EV Charging in Cambridge

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Cambridge, England, has been rapidly expanding in recent years. 

There are currently several types of EV charging stations available in Cambridge, ranging from slow chargers, fast chargers, and rapid chargers. Slow chargers are usually found in residential areas, while fast and rapid chargers are located in commercial areas and public car parks.

One of the most significant developments in EV charging infrastructure in Cambridge was the launch of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in January 2021. The ULEZ is a low-emission zone that covers the city centre and aims to reduce air pollution by encouraging the use of low-emission vehicles. As a part of the ULEZ, a network of rapid charging points has been installed, allowing EV drivers to recharge their vehicles quickly and conveniently.

In addition to the ULEZ charging points, there are several other public charging stations available throughout Cambridge. These include charging stations at car parks, supermarkets, and hotels, among other locations. Many of these charging points are operated by Charge Your Car, a network of EV charging stations across the UK.

Private companies and organisations in Cambridge have also installed charging stations for their employees and customers. For example, the University of Cambridge has installed several EV charging points across its campus, while major employers in the city, such as ARM, Microsoft, and AstraZeneca, have also installed charging stations in their car parks.
