Mr Charger attends the Allstar Alliance event

Allstar Business Solutions provides payment solutions for fleet managers to help keep their fleet on the road, reduce admin, and minimise fuel and EV charging costs. The first Allstar Alliance customer event, held at The Slate, Warwick University on 8th November 2022, covered many topics - including demystifying myths surrounding electric vehicles and challenges facing businesses today in their transition to EV.

It was fantastic for Mr Charger to attend the Allstar Alliance event as a sponsor, as we’re already working with many fleet managers on EV charging installations, bringing more EV charging benefits to employees and fleets up and down the country.

Who attended the Allstar Alliance event? 

The Allstar Alliance event brought together key stakeholders from across the market to share stories and challenges, gain experience and leave with helpful insights they can apply to their own businesses.

Members of the Mr Charger team attended the Allstar Alliance event, showcasing Mr Charger’s capabilities to provide electric vehicle charging installation support for fleet managers all across the UK. There were around 80 - 100 fleet managers also in attendance.

Mr Charger is a key partner for Allstar, who are building out a range of EV solutions to support the broader adoption of EVs in B2B fleets.

What happened at the Allstar Alliance event?

The event kicked off with an opening address by Paul Holland, MD for UK/ANZ Fleet at FLEETCOR. Paul provided an overview of the key trends in mobility with a focus on the complexity behind the transition to EVs that many businesses face today.

Tom Rowlands, MD Global EV Solutions, further explored the support needed for fleets to transition to EV and discussed the ways in which Allstar are investing in the industry to make the transition easier.

Panel discussion: How vehicle connectivity and data can help accelerate EV adoption in fleets

This interesting panel discussion tackled the complex topics of the connected vehicle and the awareness that is required for businesses around the added technology and telematics offered by today’s modern vehicles.

James Cowen, Chief Commercial Officer, Humn, discussed the importance of connectivity and how it is becoming a vital tool in providing meaningful data and insights to businesses in helping them understand when to make the transition to EV.

Panel discussion: The journey to electrification: Taking the first step

The panel also tackled other key trends including the rise in chargepoints across the UK, the steep rise in vehicle choice before also having an eye on the future of EV. 

Sam Clarke, Chief Vehicle Officer at GRIDSERVE discussed the improvements in vehicle range, how infrastructure is ramping up but most interestingly how there needs to be a mindset shift into how charging time is not dead time. For example, while his EV is recharging he is reapportioning that time to take phone calls, respond to emails and get a refreshment while on the move.

Paul Marchment, Consultant, Arval, discussed the importance of considering the total cost of ownership, how businesses and drivers will charge their vehicles, as well as the importance of education surrounding EVs. This education includes how businesses are making the switch to electric vehicles, but also the focus on educating drivers to help make driver behaviour changes.
