0% VAT on battery storage

The UK Government has announced that VAT on battery storage will be reduced to 0% from 1 February 2024. 

The introduction of this policy means that energy storage systems will become significantly more affordable, allowing more people to use green energy and lower energy costs. 

Before this policy was introduced, batteries could only be installed with 0% VAT when they were installed at the same time as solar. This new policy means that anyone will be able to install batteries at 0% VAT, whether it’s at the same time as solar, after solar has been installed or even completely separately from solar. 

0% VAT on battery storage systems means better access to green energy solutions. Battery storage systems can store sustainability sourced energy for when you need it most. For homes and businesses without solar, overnight charging can offer cheaper electricity to store for use at a later time.
