Types of EV charging

The different types of EV charging explained. 

AC - Alternating Current 

How most home appliances in your home run.

DC - Direct Current

How batteries are charged. Your EV converts AC to DC to charge the battery.  

Trickle Charging 

The slowest method of charging your EV at home, using a standard 3 pin plug. 

Slow Charging

Typically operates between 2.3kW to 3.6kW and uses AC to provide power to your EV. 

Fast Charging 

Charging speeds of between 7kW and 22kW, making it possible to fully charge most cars overnight.

Rapid Charging  

Rapid devices supply high power DC or AC to charge an EV quickly. Typically used for en-route charging on long distance journeys.
